SO WHY THERAPY?
There are many reasons why you might be considering therapy. You could be feeling anxious or low. Maybe recent events or past traumas are making it hard to cope. You might feel lonely, be experiencing difficulties in a current relationship, or are struggling to connect with others. Perhaps you cannot put your finger on the nature of the problem but something just does not feel right and life is not working out the way you want it to.
Whatever it may be the prospect of venturing into therapy for the first time can be daunting. It can feel unsettling thinking about facing particular troubles or concerns that may never have been spoken about. Overtime, a problem left unaddressed can become overwhelming and this is where talking to a therapist can help.
Psychotherapy provides a nurturing environment where you can reflect on and talk about your difficulties. This often leads to a better understanding of yourself and your concerns which, in turn, can help you find new ways of dealing with your problems, make different life choices and find a way forward.
HOW I CAN HELP
I am a Psychodynamic Psychotherapist. This means my approach is guided by the principle that the unconscious mind harbours deep-rooted feelings that affect behaviour. I use a range of psychodynamic approaches that enable me to collaborate with my clients and adapt the therapeutic experience to meet their individual needs.
I offer both short and long-term therapy. Short-term counselling can be very effective for recent onset problems or specific concerns, whereas long term, open-ended psychotherapy is more beneficial when dealing with more complex difficulties. Selecting the right type of therapy for you would be discussed during your initial session.
My approach is essentially encouraging, forward-looking and optimistic. Therapy is held in a safe, calm and confidential space where you can identify and work through the things that are troubling you.
I have experience working with issues such as:
